Toyota Camry, One Of The Most Popular, Dependable And Efficient Midsize Sedans

Toyota Camry has been one of the most popular, dependable and efficient midsize sedans, but that’s nothing new. What is new is the new four-cylinder engines and six-speed transmissions. Power is increased with a 169-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 179-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. If you desire more pop, a 268-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 has plenty of get-up for the Indy Car driver inside. The Camry comes in four intriguing trims – base, LE, sport-tuned SE and loaded XLE. Camrys are known for functionality and one major component of that is exceptional fuel economy. The 2010 Toyota Camry receives 19-28 mpg in the city and 22-32 mpg on the highway, keeping the cost at the pump at a minimum. The Camry competes with the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Chevrolet Malibu.

Complimenting the improvements under the hood, the 2010 Camry receives a minor, yet stylish facelift to the front and rear fascia. The SE trim boasts 17-inch wheels and a mesh-like grille that surely separates the new Camry from previous models. The 2010 Camry is full of premium features like the optional Smart Key System with Push Button Start, and heated, leather-trimmed seats. For those who appreciate crisp sound, a JBL eight-speaker sound system with AM/FM/MP3/WMA 6-disc in-dash CD changer, integrated satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity and an auxiliary audio jack and USB port for your iPod. To insure that you never get lost, the optional voice-activated DVD navigation system with backup camera makes getting directions a breeze.

When it comes to safety, the 2010 Camry has you covered. The Star Safety System includes vehicle stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist as standard equipment. Side curtain airbags, side-impact airbags for the front seats, dual front airbags and a driver's knee airbag are standard.

The most significant change on the 2010 Camry concerns the introduction of a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine for the standard, LE and XLE grades with 169-horsepower that can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission (excluding XLE) or a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift. Furthermore, the SE grade gets additional tuning and 179-horsepower, 21 more than its predecessor. Toyota claims that fuel economy is improved with EPA fuel economy estimates of 33 mpg highway, 22 mpg city and 26 mpg combined for the 2.5-liter four cylinder engine with the six-speed manual transmission. A 3.5-liter V6 delivering 268 horsepower and paired with a six -speed automatic transmission will continue to be available on the LE, SE and XLE grades. This engine gets EPA mpg estimates of 28 mpg highway, 19 mpg city and 23 mpg combined.

On the outside, the 2010 Camry gets a minor facelift with a newly designed grille and front bumper, an enlarged lower intake, larger projector headlamps and restyled tail lamps. Inside, the Camry and LE grades are available with a new optional audio system equipped with a new USB port for auxiliary music sources, Bluetooth(R), integrated satellite radio, single-CD, and MP3 and Bluetooth(R) streaming music capability.

The Interior Design Of Toyota Camry

The new Camry's interior is also more modern and stylish than before. The cowl (windshield base) is pushed forward, the (two-tier) instrument panel lowered, the seatbacks slimmed, and front-seat adjustment travel increased for more real and perceived spaciousness. Larger footwells and a half-inch more legroom better accommodate back-seat occupants, and the rear seatbacks recline in XLE models. Instruments are larger, more readable and better illuminated, with a different look for each model. Most controls are easier to read and operate, storage cubbies are plentiful, and there are two 12-volt outlets in the console.
